With Ella Fegitz
The menopause is finally having its moment. After centuries of misinformation and taboo, society is beginning to address how this life phase impacts women’s health, careers, and personal lives. But why is this shift happening now, and how much has the way we talk about menopause truly changed?
In this insightful presentation, Ella delves into the cultural history of menopause in the West. She explores the close ties between medical and cultural narratives and highlights how these narratives continue to shape our understanding of menopause today. This talk is an eye-opening journey into a topic that has long been shrouded in silence but is now becoming an essential part of public dialogue.
About Ella
Ella is a post-doctoral researcher at the Department for the Study of Culture at the University of Southern Denmark. Her work focuses on post-feminist subjectivity in neo-liberal societies and the role media representations play in shaping these narratives. Since 2019, Ella has worked on interdisciplinary projects exploring ageing femininity in popular culture and public policy. Her research examines how intersections of sexism, ageism, and digital inequality affect women’s lived experiences and their representation in society.
